Top 5 Pixar Scores!

One of my favourite things about Disney/Pixar is the music that they create. This blogpost is going to tell you my favourite Pixar scores, excluding songs with lyrics, counting down from 5!

Coming in at number 5 is......

Ratatouille!!

What I like most about the Rataouille soundtrack is how much it immerses you into the setting for the film. The whole score has a French flavour to it and the fast tempos fit in with what I'd expect working as a chef would feel like. My favourite piece from this score is 'Abandoning Ship', I like music to have a lot of emotion and this definitely fit into that!

Number four is...

Toy Story!! (The first film)

I love the Toy Story films, especially the first, I think that contributes to the fact I like the whole score so much. The entire score feels so reminiscent of childhood that it always makes me emotional and think back to that time in my life. Randy Newman's score is one I love because it is so distinctive and whenever I hear it I immeasurably think of Toy Story and childhood. My favourite pieces from the score are 'Hang Together' which is a very emotion filled song and uses the themes of different characters within it. My other favourite song is 'To infinity and beyond', which I love because it is the soundtrack to my favourite scene in the film!

My third favourite score is...

Wall-E!!

The music by Thomas Newman within Wall-E had to be amazing due to the fact the main dialogue of the film consists of movement rather vocals. I personally think Newman's score makes Wall-E the beautiful film that it is and without such a well composed score it wouldn't hold such emotion as it does. 'Wall-E' is the theme that introduces the audience to the little robot and I think its jovial and upbeat tones represent the character perfectly. 'Define Dancing' is definitely my favourite piece of the film. The dance that Wall-E and Eve share holds more weight when it is accompanied by this beautiful piece.

In at second place is...

Finding Nemo!

Thomas Newman makes another appearance with his wonderful composition for Finding Nemo, a film that I love! Wall-E always makes me reminiscent of Finding Nemo due to the similarities in music style (which is probably why I like them both so much). I love the way the music is so obviously about the ocean. The deep tense times as well as the light airy ones make me immediately think of the sea. The most obvious case of this for me is the song 'Field Trip', the combination of piano and flute to me is similar to the sounds id would associate with the ocean and being by the sea.

And my favourite Pixar score of all time is...

Up!

Up is one of my all time favourite films and I could literally watch it constantly and not get bored of it. The way it shows love and how it comes in all forms makes me an emotional wreck. One of the main reasons that is causes me such emotion is Michael Giocchino's composition. 'Married Life' is a song that takes you through the motions of what I think married life is, showing the good times and the bad. The use of the piano and Trumpet in this piece breaks my heart and always makes me think of the relationship between Ellie and Carl. 'Carl Goes Up' has a slightly different tone to it and is more joyous with a slightly magical feel to it. To me this song is trying to convey what Carl's emotions are at this moment in the film, in my opinion it is one where he finally feels like his and Ellie's dream is going to come true. Adventure is out there!

Well, that is the end of my Pixar Score countdown and I hope you liked it! I'd love to hear what your favourite Pixar Score is! I know my writing isn't the best and I ran out of descriptors quite early, also I'm not an expert on music but I thought it'd be an interesting thing to write about and I hope it's not too badly written. Thanks for taking the time to read this post!

Harrods Disney Store!

On Saturday the 18th July my mum and I decided to take the short trip into London to go to Harrods! There was one main reason I wanted to go there and that was the Disney store and surprisingly it was the only part of Harrods I actually spent any money in! I took some pictures of Harrods itself and the Disney Store.

The Harrods Disney store also had lovely murals all over the ceilings and I took a few different pictures of them.

Now to show you what I bought!

This was my most expensive purchase of the trip at £50 but I'd been eyeing it up online for a while and decided to just buy it as I'd been paid only the week before! It is still available to purchase on the Didney Store website I believe! It plays 'Once Upon a Dream' and is part of the art of Aurora collection.

This is part of one of the new mug series' that the Disney Store has released and it is a classic animation collection and the mugs currently available alongside this 'AristoCats' mug are 'Pinocchio', 'Alice in Wonderland' 'Bambi' and 'Peter Pan'. The Peter Pan mug however only features TinkerBell. This mug and all the mugs in the collection are £7.95 each and are all available on the Disney Store UK website.

These are two products I knew I wanted before going into Harrods and they are the 'Harrods Exlusive' Minnie and Mickey Mouse. They retail usually for £25 each although I got them for £10 each due to an offer on in store. The offer was spend £10 or more and these plushes would be £10. Although only one per transaction would be cheaper so a helpful cast member let me do two transactions!

This is a 'Harrods Exclusive' Disney Shopper that I really liked and it was only £1! To make up one transaction to £10 I ended up getting three! My mum is having own and I'm also giving one to my nan so it worked out well!

Overall I think that the Harrods Disney Store is a very nice store and is well presented with lovely cast members (as usual, I'm yet to come across a non lovely one!) Although I wouldn't visit it very often due to the fact it is quite far away from the stores entrance's and is on the fourth floor but is right at the back once you've come up the escalators/lift. Also it doesn't stock any of the small Tsum tsums, only the medium and large.

Thanks for reading!

The Lion King in the West End!!

The Lion King is my all time favourite film and Disney film and has been a constant throughout my childhood and into the beginnings of my adult life. From a very young age I would watch it constantly, I had everything Lion King you could imagine, from cups and plates, soft toys, pyjamas and duvet covers. You name it, I probably had it with simbas face on it. So for the first time, no idea why it took me so long, I went to see The Lion King at the West End. I really have no excuse for never seeing it before as I live just on the outskirts of London so Covent Garden really is quite close to me. I just decided I was going this year and I booked tickets to go with my mum and we ended up going on the 23rd of May 2015 for the 2:30pm matinee performance!

I had work early in the morning so I came home after and got ready quickly and we left for London at about 11am and arrived at the tube station pretty quickly after getting the bus. We got on a northern line train from Morden and changed at Kennington to get onto Waterloo branch so we could get off at Embankment.

After getting off at Embankment we walked up the large hill towards Covent Garden Market in search of Bella Italia where we'd decided to get lunch.
We go to the Bella Italia right by Covent Garden Market and decided we would eat before going to look at the shops. My Mum got a duck pizza and I got a calzone. Both of which were very tasty! I did take some pictures but we were both hungry so I'm afraid they're not the best looking pictures but hey ho!

After finishing our food we looked around Covent Garden Market a little and I made a beeline for the Disney Store which is one of the old versions of the Disney store which took me back! It's a very small Disney Store and it was ridiculously busy and claustrophobic but I did indeed make some purchases. One being a Pop Funko of R2-D2 and a Disney Store.doll of the Live Action Cinderella. Here are a few pictures of the Disney Store at Covent Garden and pictures of what I bought.

Next it was time to get to the Lyceum theatre in time to look at some merchandise and find our seats! I could hardly contain my excitement and took a ridiculous amount of photos of the outside of the theatre which was covered in advertising.

Once we got inside we headed up to the shop like place where they were selling a lot of the merchandise available at the theatre. I ended up buying a hooded jacket and two different programmes which I felt were reasonably priced. There was a lot of merchandise available including snow globes, soft toys, soundtracks, t-shirts and mugs.

After that we went to find our seats and we were sat on the Royal Circle level with seats N26 and n25 which cost £62.20 each which I felt was very reasonable considering the view we had.

Then we waited a while for the show to start and when it did it was everything I imagined it would be. As soon as the lights went down and that first note was sung by Rafiki I just burst into tears. I can honestly say the whole show was amazing, there was literally nothing I can say was a downfall or anything like that. The vocal talent of the actors and actresses was second to none and every song that came on made me get goosebumps. We all know the story of the Lion King but seeing it on stage somehow made it more involving and the ending where simba climbed Pride rock I was literally in bits. Luckily I'd prepared myself with waterproof mascara. Overall it is one of the best musicals I've ever had the pleasure of going to see, it has close competition from Wicked which is one of my favourite musicals ever. I urge anyone that hasn't to go and see The Lion King. Even if you only go once in your life you have to experience it, the costumes, the music and the story are first class and not to be missed.

I know I posted this a longgggg time after I actually went but I just haven't actually sat down to do it and I suddenly had motivation to do so. I know it's a slightly boring post but I just had to share!

Tsum's, Tsum's and more Tsum's!!

Ever since I started playing the Tsum Tsum line game on my IPhone I became obsessed with wanting to own the small stackable soft toys for myself! I knew for a while that they were released in Japan and then America and when they became available in the UK I jumped at the chance of owning them! About a month before they were released in the Disney Store UK some of the core collection were available in Clintons Cards, a shop in the UK.

This is the Core Collection that I bought from Clinton's when they first came out. Each Tsum cost £3 and some are still available in Clinton's with the majority also now available on the Disney Store UK website. The Tsums made for Clinton's are made by a different company than Disney use but they don't differ considerably at all!

These are the rest of the Tsum Tsum's that I bought in Clinton's cards and although most of them aren't available on their website anymore some are available in stores with most of these also available on the Disney Store website.

This is one of the Tsum's that I have bought from the Disney Store. I actually got this instore and from what I know it is not available on the Disney Store website at the moment. This Tsum was also £3.

These are the Tsum Tsum's that I got from the Frozen collection that were released when the Disney Store Uk recieved their first batch of Tsum's! I decided against getting the other two Tsum's as these were my favourite and each of these cost £3, as of the 06/05/2015 the only of these available to buy are Anna and Sven.

This is the next collection that I bought from the Disney Store. I actually happened to be at a Disney Store on the release day and managed to get all of the collection that I wanted! These all went out of stock online pretty quickly and aren't back in stock. These each cost £3.

This is the biggest Tsum that I own, a medium sized Minnie Mouse that my friends bought me as part of my birthday present! This was bought from Clinton's cards for £15 but is available from the Disney Store website for only £10 so I would encourage you to get it from there! Also its probably better to buy Tsum's from the Disney store as they came out with a collectors card.

These are what the collectors cards look like and with every Tsum Tsum soft toy you buy whether it be online or in store you get a stamp/token. When you collect 25 stamps you get to collect a free silver Tsum Tsum pin! When you get to 50 you get to collect a gold Tsum Tsum pin! To collect these you either take the card in store or send a picture of the card to marketing@disneystore.co.uk and give them your postal address and they will send it to you!

To keep my Tsum Tsum's in a nice condition I found this idea on Instagram to keep them in a display case called a 'cereal box display case. It is a box made of clear palstic that slots together in two large pieces. If you want a loose fit for your Tsum's then it will fit 24 inside but if you squish them slightly it will fit 28! I found this one for sale on amazon and it cost £19.99! To find it on Amazon just search cereal box display case and it will come up.

This is a picture of the Tsum's inside the display case and they're not set up too well but I rushed to get them in!

I love the Tsum Tsum's and every month on a Tuesday a new set are released and on the 05/05/15 I ordered 12 more Tsums! I will do another blog post about these when they arrive!

My next blog post will be on the 19th of May! Im not sure what it will be about yet so it will be a surprise haha!
