Jim Shore Disney Traditions Collection!

Since June of last year I have been collecting the ornaments by Jim Shore called 'Disney Traditions', this blog post will show all of my collection that I currently have and I'll have future posts updating my collection! I don't have a particular type that I collect I generally just collect the ornaments that I like. I also tend to buy most of them when they are on sale but for each of the ornaments I will put their retail price or what I paid if they are discontinued/from Ebay.

This piece is called 'Tale as Old as Time' and was my first ever Disney Tradition. I think it is absolutely gorgeous and captures the beauty of the film it is taken from. This is available on the H Samuel website for £59.99!

This is another Beauty and the Beast piece that I own and it is called 'Princess of Knowledge' and is part of the caraousel collection. Unfortunately this piece is now discontinued but I luckily found it in a shop locally to me for its original retail price. It is sometimes available to buy on Ebay but for quite a high price.
This piece is called 'Something There' and is the last of my Beauty and the Beast figurines. To buy new the retail price for this piece is £49.99 but it can commonly be found on Ebay. Here is a link to one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Disney-Traditions-4039075-Something-There-Belle-Beast-New-Boxed-/281652749734?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4193cfe5a6

This piece is called 'Finding True Love' and one one that I found on Ebay as it is no longer in production. Luckily I found it being sold as new and only had to pay the retail which was £39. Unfortunately there are none which I can currently find for sale but it is occasionally on Ebay.

This is another discontinued piece called 'Shining, Shimmering, Splendid', it is a beautiful but rare piece that I also luckily found in a shop near to where I live for its retail price of £55. This is exceptionally rare and can end up being sold for large sums of money on Ebay but I can't currently find it for sale.

This piece is called 'True Blue Companion' and is available mostly in Clinton Cards, it retails for £18.

This ornament is called 'Friendship Bouquet' and is another of my Winnie the Pooh pieces. This was bought from Clintons cards but is currently available from H Samuels for £24.99.

This was the second tradition I bought and it is called 'Bestest Pals' another of my Winnie the Pooh pieces that I have. It is currently available at H Samuel for £18.99.

This piece is my only Tinker Bell piece and is one of my more recent additions to my collection. It is called 'Falling Fairy' and is one of the best Tinker Bell ornaments I have seen as it captures a scene from the film. It is available from Amazon for £29.95.

This is another of my earliest pieces and it is called 'Purr-fection' and is of one of my favourite characters, Marie from the Aristocats. I got it from Clintons cards for £19 and I believe it is still available there but is also available from Amazon.

This piece is called 'Awaiting Adventure' and is a gorgeous Alice in Wonderland piece. It was £18 and bought from Clintons Cards, it is currently available on Amazon.

This is my only Disney Traditions piece that is to do with Christmas but it is also one of my favourites as I think it is completely adorable and gorgeous, it is called 'Dashing through the snow'. It retails for £45 and I bought it from Clintons cards, it is available on a few different websites.

This is another of the Alice in Wonderland pieces I have also got from Clintons cards for around £18, it is called 'Mad Cap Mayhem'

This is one of the other pieces I have that is discontinued, it was bought from Ebay for around £19 including shipping and is one of the more commonly found pieces to come up on Ebay when searched.

These two pieces are the two Frozen pieces that I have. The top ornament is called 'Sisters Forever' and the smaller ornament of Olaf is called 'Silly Snowman'. These two pieces are absolutely adorable and in the UK are the only two Frozen Disney traditions currently available. They are currently available from H Samuel. £50 for the larger and £20 for the smaller.

This is my largest Disney Tradition and is one of my favourite pieces that Jim Shore has released. As well as being rather large it is also musical and it spins around. The ornament is called 'Under the sea' and was one of the 25th anniversary pieces created for the Little Mermaid. The piece is one of the most expensive Jim Shore pieces available and is currently on sale at H Samuel for £89.95.

This is one of my favourite pieces mainly because I love Donald Duck and think he's hilarious! There are two versions of this piece but this one I feel is more represnetative of Donald and is called 'Fowl Temper'. It was £18 when I got it from Clintons Cards and I believe it is still available there.

This is one of the cheapest piece at £15 from a shop called F Hinds, it is still available online for the same price and I think it is completely adorable! It is called 'official concience' and is quite a small piece.

This is another of my favourites due to the fact it is one of my favourite characters, from my all time favourite Disney film from one of my favourite scenes! This piece is called 'Just can't wait to be King' and it cost me £18 from a shop called Gallery Gifts close to where I live. It is also available on amazon for the same price.

Stitch is one my favourite characters mainly due to his mischevious personality and also because he doesn't fit the mould! This piece is called 'Ohana means family' and was £18 also purchased from a shop called Gallery Gifts. It is still available to buy on Amazon for a similar price.

One of the best pieces I believe I own mainly due to the fact it has my two favourite mice on it! This piece is extra special as it was created for Mickey and Minnies 85th Anniversary. It retails for £49.95, its name is 'Sharing Memories' and is currently available from Amazon for just a little less than retail.

This is the only Snow White piece that I own and it shows one of the moments Dopey portrays in the film and is actually a light up piece, shown in the pictures above. It is called 'A light in the dark' and retails for £35, currently available from justfabgifts.co.uk as well as H Samuel.

Some of my favourite Disney Traditions that Jim Shore has created are the storybook pieces and I wish i owned more. For my birthday my friends bought me this piece to start off this collection and my favourite Disney scene with my favourite Disney princess is now mine! It is currently available from H Samuel and retails for £39.99. It is called 'One magical night'.

Possibly my favourite piece that I own, this incredibly detailed piece is absolutely adorable and it is one of my favourites mainly because it is of my favourite princess but also because Pascal is included within it! I think it is one of Jim Shores most beautiful pieces and I'm so greatful to own it! It is called 'Loyalty and Love' and is currently available from H Samuel for £36.99.

So there is my current collection of Jim Shore Disney Traditions! I love every single piece I own and have some sort of obsession with them! If you have any questions about these pieces of would like to tell me your favourite or if you collect them don't hesitate to leave a comment.

I've decided that I am now going to post every two weeks on Wednesdays!

Where there is kindness, there is goodness...

On the 27th of March I went to see the new live-action Cinderella film that Disney have come out with. Now there had been a lot of hype around the film which made me pretty skeptical about it as usually, hyped up things tend to not be as good as they're made out to be however, Cinderella was absolutely magical!

Now, most of us know the story of Cinderella, the girl who is made into a scullery maid by three women who need to work on their personalities. I am a Disney fan through and through so I thought that the film would be no where near as good as its cartoon predecessor but I'm happy to say it was an incredibly beautiful film and lived up to all the hype that was surrounding it.

The film in total was absolutely beautiful and the cinematography was absolutely insane, the beautiful colours and costumes were cartoon like in themselves with the contrast high the whole film caught my attention. Credit to Kenneth Branagh who did an amazing job with a fairytale so beloved by so many disney fans and many others all alike. The music that is used within the film is just beautiful and fit the film perfectly, Patrick Doyle composed the pieces of music perfectly and it gave the film such a nostalgic feel to it as it definitely took inspiration from the 1950 classic. Doyle, who is famous for doing soundtracks for films such as Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire has worked with Disney before on the 2012 Pixar animation Brave. He handled the whole of the soundtrack well and the addition of Lily James (Cinderella) singing 'A Dream is a Wish' on the soundtrack made me tear up.

Through the opening 20 minutes of the film I didn't stop crying, even though I knew everything that was about to happen the way it was acted and shot made it 10 times more emotional and I had to try and stop myself from sobbing throughout the whole film. I'm an emotional wreck throughout most Disney films and this one certainly didn't disappoint in that department.

Lily James as Cinderella was such a perfect choice and I couldn't think of someone that could do a better job, the fact she isn't a Hollywood starlet made her more endeering as a character as most people hadn't seen her in much before, other that her most famous role in Downton Abbey. The way she played out 'Ella's' innocence was lovely and how she killed her enemies with kindness was something that made her a very endeering character.

Richard Madden who played 'Kit' or 'Prince Charming' as hes more commonly known was certainly charming. He gave more depth to his character than I can say the cartoon Charming did. Best known for his role as Robb Stark in Game of Thrones Richard Madden shows his variety of being able to play a more regal Prince that the 'King in the North'

Now, Helena Bonham Carter is more well known for her darker characters and using her 'magic' for evil as she does with Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter series, yet she fits the role of  'Fairy Godmother' surprisingly well and although the song 'Bibidi Bobidi Boo' wasn't used for the 'creating the coach' scene I feel like this was the next best thing with her natural humour coming out in the character.

Kate Blanchette was a wonderfully wicked Evil Stepmother and I feel as though the way she played the Step-Mother was very similar to how Glenn Close played Cruella De Vil in the live action version of 101 Dalmations. The way she degrades 'Ella' in an indirect way is more scalding that if it were direct because Ellas kindness even prevents her from seeing the most obvious of evils in the beginning of the film.

The supporting cast including Derek Jacobi, Holliday Grainger and Sophie McShera brought the film to life and the twist including the Grand Duke and the Step-mother was something I didn't expect and also gave the film a slight twist to the cartoon couterpart.

Overall, the film was what Disney does best, absolutely magical. I defy anyone, whether you're an Adult, Teenager, Parent, Grandparent, to not feel the magic in the room as Cinderella's tattered dress magically transforms into a ballgown. I highly recommend this to anyone with children and also just...anyone! Anyone that wants to escape into a fantasy of beautiful colours and a classic fairytale for just under 2 hours then this is your film!
